There are excellent Volcano & Eco Adventure air tours offered on all Islands, however the Big Island is the only Hawaiian Island where fresh and flowing lava can be seen and experienced.  So, if you are on Oahu or Maui, and want to see Lava, make sure your trip is destined for the neighboring island of Hawaii.
